I should point out that if this is done from within KDE (i.e. in a Konsole
terminal while su-ed to root), or done in a virtual tty (Ctrl+Alt+F1-F6)
while KDE is running, then you will need to log out of KDE and re-login to 
see whether or not the aRts sound server will now start properly for you.
