That seems a bit confused. An ASCII text file is pretty much the most
universal file format possible; anyone should be able to view, download,
and/or print it, without needing to convert it to anything else (PDF, PS,
HTML, or whatever). In fact, any such conversion would probably be a Bad
Thing (it makes the file bigger, and limits your audience unnecessarily).
The reason PS/PDF was more appropriate in my case is that the original
source file was created in a program called LyX, which does more formatting
than can be accomplished with plain ASCII text (font styles and the like).
As far as MS-Word goes, for best results, purchase Adobe's Acrobat product
(Acrobat proper, not just the Reader). As is typical with most payware, you
need to buy additional payware products to really do everything you want.
If your MS-Word documents are sufficiently simple, exporting "Text" or
"HTML" from MS-Word may be an acceptable alternative. However, before
publishing any such file, please read this:
