That's typical. Win2k doesn't have drivers for the ATA-66 controller on 
my desktop system, and the CD that came with the motherboard doesn't 
have drivers for Win2K. I had to download the drivers off the web and 
put 'em on a CD.

GNU/Linux and FreeBSD have no problem whatsoever with this controller, 
right out of the box. That includes the 2.2 kernel, 'cause I first built 
the machine back in the summer of 2000.

Microsoft seems to rely on the OEM for driver support more than do the 
Linux kernel hackers.
