DVD writer on Linux?

There are two that I'm aware of, dvdrecord and cdrecord-dvdhack.  Which
one works for you probably depends on which dvd-writer you have.  I have a
Pioneer mumble-105 (don't remember the exact model offhand), and it only
works with cdrecord-dvdhack.  dvdrecord fails complaining that the media
is invalid (which is kind of funny because it's Pioneer-branded media!),
but cdrecord-dvdhack just works for me.
