I've got FreeBSD and Win2K on my main workstation here at home. I use
grub for the bootloader and have no problems. For the gory details of
everything that I went through go here:
http://www.sigio.com/articles/win2k.html. It's specific to my situation,
but may contains some hints for you in the section on Grub.
Linux and Windows don't need to play with each other at all. Windows
doesn't need to know about Linux and Linux doesn't need to know about
Windows. When you're dual-booting, you can set it up so that neither OS
knows or cares about the other. (I have my Windows partitions mounted in
FreeBSD so I can easily copy files, but not the other way around.)
Ideally, this is what you want.
