That means ANY ideas??

We've been using CUPS for over a year. Mostly it's just great.
But then, occasionally, when you try something new you get a
message like "client_error_xxxx". So when it's bad it's HORRID.
Free Software at the limits of the envelope...

Don't get me wrong; mostly CUPS is just great. Especially for
auto-announcing configuration changes to the network.

OK, ONE idea, which I can mention to you quickly. We use xpp
for print requests. The xpp panel does have checkboxes for duplex
printing. I can't verify that they work, since no printer here
has the capability. But the xpp checkboxes for 2-up and 4-up
work fine. If trying xpp isn't too much trouble, you might be
able to pry into what it sends to CUPS. (Or if you like it you
might even end up using it for production.)
