thread limit question

ok, so maybe i was kinda wrong on that one.... i was detaching them
after creating them, which, for some reason (race condition?) was not
going through in time.  if i set the attributes before and then create i
can now reach 1024, which is probably something else, but either way it
is enough for me...

thanks for the hint... boy, was i on the wrong track.
