What got me excited yesterday was the dawning realization that this is
a killer solution for amateur astrophotography. In their highest
resolution/quality mode, digital cameras produce multi-megabyte
images, and astrophotographers tend to capture a lot of images. A
final image of Mars, for example, might consist of 100 stacked images.
Sometimes we're working with other people's scopes, cameras, and
computers. So a fast, portable, high capacity, widely compatible
external drive could be really useful.
