[OT] Laptop screen messed up

Hi all,
I was playing WarCraft III on my wifes laptop when the laptop decided to
go into hibernate mode (power cord had jiggled loose). The screen is now
a a bunch of different colors and at one point turned white. When I
attach an external monitor I am able to use the computer. I've tried:

1) rebooting the computer
2) swiching video modes and toggling between LCD/CRT
3) booting Gentoo to see if that could unwedge whatever is stuck
4) changing the number of colors
5) running the game again using the CRT then switching to LCD

Nothing has worked. Computer isn't under warranty any more. It is a Dell
Inspiron 2500.
