Per-process I/O stats?

Hi, all. Frequently, one sees load go high, while CPU is low; clearly, this
is a contention for some other resource, usually I/O, such as network or
disk. In a certain OS that I will refrain from naming, one can see I/O reads
and writes on a per-process basis. I know of no way to do this in Linux:
does anyone else?
"Enquiring minds want to know," and all that...
Thanks!
