Is the next SLUG meeting on Monday night? Is there a topic/speaker yet?
If there is interest, I could talk about setting up CUPS and SAMBA to
create a shared printer on a SOHO network. See
http://freephile.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=HowToNetworkPrinting for
the gritty details.
I also have a SAMBA 3 book to give away at the next meeting.
And, for one lucky person, I have a stuffed musical penguin to give away
too. Perhaps it could become the chapter mascot, but it needs a loving
home.
I also noticed that Sams is sponsoring OSSChicago, and perhaps GNHLUG
could work out a similar book deal:
>Thanks to our new sponsor Sams Publishing (www.samspublishing.com) we are
>going to be giving away free books about open source software at our
>meetings from now on. We'll hold a drawing at the end of each meeting, and
>you must be present to win.
>
>Although not necessary, we encourage the winners to write a short review of
>the book they receive and post it to the OSS Chicago web site and to the
>Talk mailing list (talk at osschicago.com).
>
>Also, Sams has generously offered to ship us a free copy of any book from
>either the Sams line or their Que (www.quepublishing.com) line of books.
>The only catch is that any book we request must be reviewed by the
>requestor and the review must be published publically on the web (at
>osschicago.com) and a copy of the review must be sent to Sams. So if there
>are any books you're interested in reviewing, please send me an email and
>I'll put in the request.
