Netscape had roaming profiles that would work with LDAP and WebDAV.
I used it myself for a while.  Bookmarks and cookies (maybe others)
would be downloaded when started and then uploaded when shut down.

Since Netscape crashed so much at the time, it was pretty rare when
stuff would get uploaded.

Mozilla doesn't have it implemented yet, probably due to lack of
interest.
