MAC addresses, hostnames, and DHCP

Our VPN server died (simultaneous motherboard and HD failure) and it took me
3 hours to resurrect... when I brought the replacement back up, restored
config, and restarted services, the offsite OpenVPN clients reconnected as
though nothing had happened.  I was rather pleased.  :-)
