The original message was sent today, not too much advance notice :-( ... 
but I don't mean to complain about that.  The message was addressed to 
the 'announce' list, which I believe automatically gets sent to the 
'discuss' list, but that may be untrue.  I sent my reply (addressed to 
the proper 'discuss' list) in part because I noticed it was cc'd to the 
old [now invalid] 'discuss at gnhlug' address.

So, here are some possible reasons why you didn't get the original:
* you are not subscribed to the 'announce' list
* Rob Anderson hasn't noticed the thread about the changes to valid 
addresses in use
* There is supposed to be a mechanism for distributing 'announcements' 
that needs to be repaired
