Debian Sarge vs. USB

I connected a usb-storage device to my system. The kernel says:

However, nowhere can I find anything like /dev/uba1 or /dev/ub/uba1 or
whatnot. 

Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong? (or how to mount the drive)?
