cdrecord problems with CD-RW on FC3

I'm having intermittent problems with some CD-RW media on FC3.  I'm using 
cdrecord to blank it first and then write to it.  Most of the time I don't 
have a problem, but occasionally the blanking (both fast and all) gets a media 
error and occasionally there is an error fixating.  Ejecting and retrying 
sometimes works or after a few eject/retry cycles it will eventually work.

Any one else experience similar problems?  I'm wondering if it's the media, my 
hardware, or something with FC3.  I'm running an unmodified FC3 which seems to 
have an experimental cdrecord with DVD support.  The drive is a Cendyne 
Lightning CD-RW and the media is Sony 1x-4x CR-RW.
