Sounds like you're using KDE, so give KAudioCreator a try.  It does the 
CDDB/FreeDB/etc lookups for you, lets you pick which songs to rip, and rips 
them to WAV, FLAC, MP3, OGG, whichever.  It makes use of Lame for MP3 I know, 
but obviously takes care of the MP3 id song information.  Obviously, this 
won't help for WAVs you've already ripped, but from now on anyway.  And for 
those you've already ripped, just use Lame.

For those you've already ripepd, I suggest JuK for adding the MP3 id 
information.  It lets you mass-edit and automatically generate id information 
based on filename and other nice features like that.
