Just wanted to send out a quick note, thanking everyone who showed up
for this evening's meeting. James Turner, as previously mentioned, was
on hand to give a wide-ranging talk about many topics, from the
LinuxWorld/O'Gara debacle, to journalistic integrity, to licensing, and
onward. Lively discussion followed -- which made Ben's absence felt
even moreso. Regardless, thanks are due to James for making this
evening an informative and enjoyable one -- fun was had by all.
Next month's topic, to be presented by Ira Krakow, is everyone's
favorite Windows (non-)emulator, WINE (www.winehq.org). I look forward
to hearing about what can, and can't, be done with WINE and its many
related offshoots.
Also, there will be swag! Yes, that's right: through generous
donations, there will be some fun stuff to be had. And, if I remember
to actually bring up the raffle tickets from the car, it may even be
randomly distributed.
Lastly, thanks are due to Rob Lembree: tonight we (finally!) had a
chance to test the wireless equipment he installed in Martha's basement
last month. It does seem to drop some packets from the restaurant
floor, itself, but -- and counter-intuitively -- it seems to work great
from the upstairs meeting room. Go figure.
Look forward to seeing everyone next month!
-Ken
P.S. Matt: his name was Roosta. How could I have forgotten?!
