Confusing hardware issue

Keybindings in alsamixer are a little tough at times...  Play with Tab and the 
Spacebar and you'll find more functionality. Also, I think a couple letters 
(not sure which) in the left home row keys let you adjust the volume for left 
and right channels selectively.
