  I think just about everybody pushes long term commitment contracts
whenever they can.  No surprise there.

  Well, it really depends on the registrar, but I know there is some
ICANN limit on how long you can register a domain with a registRY for.
 If you pre-pay beyond that term, the registRAR has to do the later.

  Yah, this way we get our choice of incompetent companies.  ;) 
Seriously, I hate Network Delusions.  Yah, things were simpler, but
worse overall.
