Robert:

First, I think you deserve a huge thanks from us all for holding
meetings almost every month since 1994. That's quite an
accomplishment. A predictable schedule and location has helped a lot,
I agree.

I have enjoyed every meeting I've attended at SLUG. However, I'm
seventy-five minutes away, so I really need to know what the meeting
will cover before I'll head out. In addition, I have obligations on
Monday nights, and need a few days notice in order to make
alternative arrangements. So, we agree that earlier notice is better.

Earlier announcements can attract more attendees. More attendees can
lead to more volunteers. More volunteers means you can delegate some
of the tasks, get others to help organize the meetings and present
more varied information. A more lively group can in turn lead to
attracting more volunteers.

Heather Brodeur had proposed at the Summer Summit that she act as a
central communication point and in helping all of the chapters work
their way towards a 30-60-90-day planning cycle to get the last
minute stress out of meeting planning. Heather's said that she'll
follow up at the Autumnal Summit with some more concrete plans on that.

Five LUGs meet around the state, and most presenters would be willing
to give their presentation more than once. Consider browsing:

for potential volunteers.
