Will you be using any sort of PCI cards? If so, you'll probrably want to
go with 2U racks, as most 1U racks have at most 1, MAYBEE 2 slots available.
What would you be most interested in monitoring other than

System availability. Many times, it's helpfull to monitor network based
availability, such as server pool availability, load balancer operation,
etc.

Something that does the dishes. Oh, and the laundry.
