Linux SoundCard Question

I am building a Linux workstation that will be used
for development of a voice recogntion system.  I am in
need of soundcard recomendations.  I know I have to be
careful about the soundcard because certain models do
not have a working microphone in Linux (SB audigy SE)
I would like a recomendation for a new sound card,
yes, I know alot of old ones work fine.
