My interpretation of that is that you should know the distinctions between the 
versions too.  Using Apache1 also prepares you to use Apache2 without much 
problem.  Same goes for PHP and MySQL.  That doesn't necessarily mean though 
that you know the Apache2 MPM stuff, or the PHP5 OO improvements, or the 
MySQL _everything_ improvements between 3 and 5.
