Reliable wireless?

irda requires line of sight (bad for something that's moving)
bluetooth also operates at 2.4Ghz, so there may be interference - the
tools I use don't tell me if they BT connection is starting to weaken as
802.11 will.  The connection is either working or not.
802.11a may have base stations, but I'm not sure what kind of choice you
have.  same with 900Mhz wireless
802.11-pre-n can operate at 2.4 of 5Ghz.  If you can get one that
operates at 5, you might have a better shot at finding gear on the base
station and interface card side.
