Personally, I'd not consider Bose crap-level either. Perhaps some of their
low-end stuff, but they also make some good stuff. That same quote also
included Pioneer. The Pioneer Elite series is actually quite good as well.
Me, I'm rather partial to Yamaha, Onkyo and Harmon-Kardon (well, at least the
H-K gear of ~20-30 years ago -- my dad has an awesome H-K setup that's about
as old as me and still kicks ass -- I don't know their current stuff as well,
thought I'd heard something about ownership changing hands and their quality
not being what it once was).
I was actually eying an amp earlier tonight that can take in just about any
video signal (HDMI/DVI, Component, Composite, S-Video) and feed it out via
HDMI... Me want...
