  Personal HUDs are one of those things that will get economically
viable as soon as there's mass-market demand for it.  You just need to
come up with a reason the masses should buy one.

  Look at Bluetooth.  When Bluetooth first came on the scene, I don't
think very many people ever thought that the "killer app" for BT would
be *hands-free headsets for cell phones*.  But thanks to that, the
success of BT is assured.

  (Aside: I remember watching the original "Star Trek", looking at
Uhura's ear piece, and thinking "That's so lame.  Nobody would ever
want to walk around with something like that hanging out of their
ear."  I guess I was wrong on that call.  Truth is stranger than
fiction.)
