I actually considered the Koolu before I wrote Mac Mini. I haven't
actually tried a Koolu but the Mini definitely has a lot of
"oomph" (dual core processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive, built-in
802.11g and Bluetooth). I'm really mixing systems here. The Koolu uses
very little power whereas the Mac Mini is really a desktop in a very
tiny package.

I think the killer for the previous versions of these display devices
was high cost and relatively poor video performance. The MicroOptical
device is supposedly built into an eyeglass lens and conceivably would
not be noticed by most bystanders.

Yup. Going from a Borg like hinged "thingie" hanging in front of the eye
to something that looks like an ordinary pair of eyeglasses would do the
trick assuming the video performance was decent and the price wasn't
astronomical.

P.S. To be a real Borg contender the device would need to be built into
the cornea ;^)
