Yes, absolutely it does. I retrieve my mail off of a POP3 or IMAP
server using fetchmail which hands it off to procmail.  Procmail then
"deals with it".  Either it sorts it into a folder or, as in the
example, passes it off to another script which in turn deletes it and
whole bunch of other related e-mails.

Since, at the time, I was using mh, all my mail was in my homedir in
mh format.  It's still in my homedir, and since I use the nnml backend
for gnus, I could technically still use mh commands on my mail, but
gnus really dislikes that :)
