  Hmmm, according to http://www.koolu.com/, the box has mini-PCI slot,
right?  You might be able to find a hardware MPEG decoder card in that
form factor.  That would offload most of the decode work from the CPU.

  If no such product exists, Koolu might be able to build their own,
as an add-on product, if that's the direction they want to go.  The
chips themselves are already available; it would just be a matter of
designing the PCB and doing the integration.  Not cheap, but not
infeasible.
