Notes from CentraLUG, 5-Nov-2007: Ted Roche, Introduction to Cascading Style Sheets

Thirteen people turned out for the November meeting of the Central New
Hampshire Linux User Group, held as usual on the first Monday of the
month at the New Hampshire Technical Institute Library, Room 146.

I hate doing the third-person reporting thing when I'm talking about
myself: "Ted Roche did this, and Ted Roche said that,..." I mean, gee,
get over yourself, guy! In any case, I had a good time.

Standing room only (I had to stand as there were no seats left). The
presentation is available at
http://www.tedroche.com/Present/2007/css/css.html and you'll find the
link on the GNHLUG events page for reference. Lots of good links in the
slides to web sites, book references and other useful stuff. Two
corrections:

1. I neglected to credit the illustration of the CSS Box Model slide; it
was from http://www.hicksdesign.co.uk/boxmodel/, released under a
Creative Common's Attribution License. Thank you!

2. At the meeting, Mark pointed out that Nvu hadn't been updated in a
while, and a more recent version was called KompoZer. News to me, but he
was right: Nvu has been dormant since 2005 and KompoZer, last updated in
August of this year, can be found at: http://www.kompozer.net/

I've updated the slides to reflect this.

(If you missed the presentation, you can try again and see version 2.0
this Thursday at MonadLUG or version 2.1 next Thursday at MerriLUG)

Thanks to Ed Lawson for providing the projector on little notice, to the
Technical Institute for the facilities, to all for attending and
participating.

Next month, David Berube will be presenting Introduction to Ruby on
Rails -- come early if you want a seat. In January, Bruce Dawson will be
talking about low-power Linux computers like the LinkSys WRTSL54G, DSLU
and the Koolu box. Both should be great meetings. Hope to see you there!
