I joined last year when HP decided they no longer needed my services.
No sign of an Email barrage yet, most of the mail I get are requests to
join other people's pool of contacts. Several are from people I barely
a few are from headhunters where the profession's goal is to have more
contacts than the next headhunter, but when you decline the request
the sender currently can't send it again.
I haven't really gained much from it, my current job is at Oracle in
a group of a couple dozen HP coworkers, and LinkedIn restricts a lot
of what you can find out about people you aren't linked with. People
can find a lot more about me via Google. Or my personal web site.
Between a rare name (I think there are about 60 Werme's) and references
in the ARPAnet-era RFCs, I figure there's no point in hiding.
LinkedIn isn't Facebook for Professionals. Well, maybe it is, but it sure
isn't Facebook.

My beyond-the-ordinary-file probably started when I gave the FBI some photos
of the ROTC breakin at CMU after the Kent State shootings. At least it starts
on a positive note, at least from their point of view. From what I understand
of FBI records, I doubt they could find that record anyway.
