Updated RHEL 4 to 5, ldap won't start now

BDB errors? I see initialization messages but no errors.
How would strace help me? It reports which files are being opened as 
processing goes along and of course that will be about a gamillion 
library files. Event after weeding out all that noise I'd be left 
wondering where the source of trouble really is. I'm sure that I'd see 
the last file it opened but that may not be at all informative in a 
situation like this. (It hasn't been all that helpful for similar things 
in the past.)
Is there a listing someplace of common problems encountered when doing 
an upgrade like this?
