Hi,

Anyone have experience with compiling an experimental x-server per
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_compile_an_experimental_X_server ?

If anyone recalls, I have the Radeon X1650 PRO dual-dvi card. I really
need to get both 2D and 3D working for a visualization task. So far, I
have not been able to get stuff going since I apparently have an old
version x-server.

Before (but not related to) my disk crash, I played with the proprietary
ATI/AMD driver, but the 3D stuff really didn't seem to work. Maybe I
did not enable things correctly. Since I recreated my system, I have
not reinstalled the AMD proprietary driver.

The script looks promising since it seems to automate fetching
compilation and installation from git and cvs. Has anyone tried it?
Any pitfalls I should know about? This installation only installs in
your home directory and supposedly does not trash your existing
x-server. I did notice that the webpage has not been updated since
2007... That could be good, or not.
