PDA with barcode reader recommendations?

  The Symbol SPT1700/1800 line are the older PalmOS based devices.
They would certainly be in the price range (300-350$ IIRC), but
unfortunately would need to be found second hand or overstock.  They
also had several derivatives such as the SPT1740, which included
802.11b/g.

The new Windows based scanners are much higher in price ~1k$.
