Alternatives to Comcast

This seem to be a recurring topic. Perhaps it should be added to the
wiki? The general concensus seems to be MV or Speakeasy for DSL service.

NH seems to have this thing against competition among cable providers.

For what it's worth, back when I had DirecTV, I noticed the same MPEG
encoding artifacts that I see on Comcast, generally during high motion
scenes or scenes with low lighting. From what I've heard, Comcast does
use less bandwidth per channel than DirecTV, but you're going to get
compression artifacts with any digital provider.
