Oh, and I forgot to mention that Ubuntu also makes every 3rd or 4th release
a Long Term Support  (LTS) release.  The current versions (8.04 Hardy Heron)
is and LTS.  A Desktop LTS is supported for 3 years instead of the standard
1.5, and LTS Server is 5 years instead of 3.  Again, the best of both worlds
vs. Debian as far as I can see it: stick with an LTS for stability and
longer release cycles or upgrade along they way as you see fit.

Tip: you can turn a minimal server install into a desktop with one command:
apt-get install ubuntu-desktop; reboot
That should get you 5 years of package updates for a desktop if you want it.
