For all you outspoken people....and some of you quiet ones...

I have been asked to nominate some people and products for "the most" or
"the best" for 2008.

Now I am happy to do this, but I also am a firm believer in the concept
that (for the most part) a group of people usually gives a better answer
than a single person, so I am going to open this up to the fine people
on the GNHLUG list to put forth your own nominations.

What I would appreciate from you is:

o a nomination
o some reasoning behind the nomination
o a url or other pointer if it is a lesser known product or person

For example, for "the best language" you could nominate:

Python - for its ease of use, maintainability, portability

or

For the "Most Innovative Open Source Project":

OpenStreetmaps - (www.openstreetmaps.org) has created not only a
great set of free software, but a project to map the world

Now the tough part: only products, projects, people and organizations
that have been very significant in 2008 should be nominated. So while
Python might be a great language, it has been around a while. Yes, I
know, it is hard to have a great language that is only a year
old...perhaps on "language" we can hedge a bit.

In any case, I would be interested in what you think. You don't have to
answer all of them, just the ones you want.

Thanks,

md
