> - Most Outstanding Contribution to Open Source / Linux / Free Software

AMD's release of all ATI Radeon chipset specs, which is allowing the
community (Novell, Redhat, DRI/Mesa) to write free software drivers for even
their newest cards

This has got to be the most outstandand contribution over the last 3 years.
Intel and VIA have done this in the past, but they're not serious contenders
in 3D. We now have some, and soon nearly full, support for all Radeon,
Radeon HD, and FireGL based cards without proprietary drivers.

- Most Linux / Open Source-Friendly Hardware Vendor

Dell, for working closely with the Ubuntu project and (along with Canonical)
providing excellent technical support on their "N" series of desktops,
notebooks, and subnotebooks

Open up a Dell "Mini" and see the spiffy subnotebook GUI they use, or call
the Ubuntu tech support line at Dell, you'll see what I mean.

- Best Open Source Contribution for Mobile Devices

Android, for reaching mainstream and positioning to compete head-to-head
with the iPhone

- Best Open Source Programming Language

Python 3, released this Fall it makes programming even more intuitive and
easy to learn

It's *technically* a new language because it breaks compatibility, right?
:-)

No seriously Python 3 has made some serious improvements by cutting away a
lot of the cruft that was being kept around for compatibility reasons only.
This makes it easier to learn and work with, which in turn allows more
people to contribute to the total body of free software.
