There are now three modern Distributed Version Control Systems freely 
available:
 
1. "GIT":http://git-scm.com/

2. "Mercurial":http://www.selenic.com/mercurial

3. "Bazaar":http://bazaar-vcs.org

Find out why I like the slowest one instead of the one written by Linus!
