Thanks for the responses to the questionnaire!
TL;DR - Great topics suggested, valuable info collected, need more
interest in event hosting.
It was pointed out to me that making results private was a better idea.
Which I conceded to and is better off because the results are presented in
an overwhelming way anyhow. The following will summarize the key take
always from the current 26 results. More than happy to furnish more info
for those interested. That being said, I would like to see a more
representative sample of the group before doing so, have seen more then 26
people at one meeting in the past. The form can still be filled out here-

Yes, Google forms... having reserves about the google are
understandable, but its also just a harmless informal survey. Thanks for
being understanding.
Topics- There were plenty great suggestions for topics and a few even line
up with what potential speakers are interesting in talking about. This was
great. A few repeating topics of interest were, embedded, home automation,
python and security. Of course, various dev ops topics were also were
listed. Ultimately a topic only has good as having workshop coordinator or
speaker. Thankfully, only topic unmatched was embedded Linux. Which I have
a strong feeling that someone in this audience might have some ideas about
that particular topic. Though a more specific focus might be warranted on
that one.
Meeting related- Based on this small cross-section respondents the
following patterns showed up. Manchester is the most preferred location
follow by Nashua and Concord. Speakers and workshops are top votes in terms
of meeting types. Social and newbie/pro meeting types also have similarly
strong interest. Scheduling conflicts and infrequent meetings making things
difficult for a portion members. Overwhelmingly most (25 of 26) are
attracted to the group to learn something new. With similar numbered
interest in networking and open source. Much of this covers things we would
naturally assume. Maybe surprisingly only a couple people are looking for
Linux jobs through the group. Also things like parking, specific location
and specific topic tend to be minor issues on the whole.
Helping out- Wording may have skewed the answers here, but maybe
justifiably so. No one signed up to be the benevolent dictator of the
group, much to my chagrin. Four people signed up to host quarterly
including myself, with one other possibly interested. This may sound good
but, to speak for my own case, given a glimpse of the unicorn I have been
looking for I will be compelled to chase it. That may make very little
sense, suffice it to say, I see more reasons for waning commitments as
opposed to evolving ones. Even if that is true there is some optimism based
on other answers. Most seem to be willing to help market and grow the
group. There is also a general agreement in commitments related to more
informal type gatherings. With some offers that would likely enable a more
serious type of engagement on an occasional basis.
A couple of times I have heard something a long the lines of "why do we
need an excuse to get together?". A month ago I wanted call for a social
meeting, and basically asked the same thing. Really, I do agree with the
spirit of this question. However, was met with a response that lead to this
questionnaire. What was pointed out was that we are all part of GNHLUG
mostly because we are all avid learners. Our main narrative in getting
together is to learn from one another. For that reason, a set topics
(though unnecessary) really feed the energy of the group. Have also noticed
specifically "social" gatherings across various meet-ups attract by and
large the same groups of people time after time. Would like to see newbies
coming into the group. Diversity of people tends provide more opportunities
to discover new things!
Think this was enough of a ramble... though there is more to say,
Paul
