Computer Express, Inc <http://computerexpress.com/> is looking to fill
an immediately available hourly contract position in Needham, MA (US).
Length of contract is negotiable. The job description is as follows:
Primary responsibilities will include administration of a CaliberRM
(requirements database) server for Needham-based software company.
Experience with CaliberRM is preferred, but not required -- if you do
not have experience, then the ability to quickly learn a new application
on the job is essential. Administration responsibilities include
creating new user accounts, responding to user issues and problems,
facilitating upgrades and support, and general maintenance of the
server. Additional responsibilities may include helping with occasional
help tickets, updating a few web pages periodically, and miscellaneous
technical tasks.
Although experience with Caliber is not necessary, advanced
["power-user"] Windows experience is required. Applicants must be
familiar with client/server application concepts, Windows network
basics, and general troubleshooting and problem solving. (Applicants
are *not* required to have any experience as a Windows network
administrator.)
In addition to the basic administration of the server, the candidate
will be responsible for developing Java-based tools using the CaliberRM
SDK, a library/API which provides programmatic access to the server.
Existing tools are written in Java and may require modification and
distribution, so a fundamental understanding of Java programming and
Ant, and the ability to read and modify existing Java source code, are
strongly preferred. Familiarity with open source Jakarta projects such
as Log4J and Digester are a huge plus, as the existing tools are built
with these libraries.
**** Please note that neither J2EE skills nor previous professional Java
development experience are required for this position, so this job is
ideal for aspiring developers and part-time students/recent grads who
are looking for an immediate job for the next couple of months
(minimum). ****
Perl/Python scripting, Linux experience, and ability to use bash shell
on Cygwin will be handy for this job (in terms of automating your
workflow) but are not requirements.
Please contact David Gilmartin <davidg at computerexpress.com> if you are
interested in applying for this position or have any questions. Again,
this position is immediately available and a quick response is the best
way to get consideration for this opening.
