Technical Knowledge Engineer (6 month contract)

 

Write, edit, index, or revise a variety of technical, user documentation such
as articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for a wide range of uses.
Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and/or product management during
design phase to gain an understanding of the product and features.  Analyze
requirements of project to determine types of publications needed.  Ensure
accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.  Position requires
excellent oral and written communication skills and an understanding of
RAID/Storage, programming concepts, and operating systems.  

 

This position requires a senior engineer who will work independently and,
therefore must be a self-starter. Position requires understanding of both
Windows and Linux. Documentation must be written for both. This position
requires the engineer work with the product and may go so far as to read the
code to gain understanding of how the product works. Engineer will be
required to bring all forms of documentation up-to-date. Current
documentation includes .pdf, online help, man page, and readmes for Windows
and Linux. Future writing may include documenting the SDKs, white papers, and
other documents. On certain pieces of documentation this engineer will
interface between Storage Engineering and the Corporate Documentation group.

 

Required tool set includes FrameMaker, RoboHelp, some HTML, nroff man macros,
SGML, CVS, or equivalent tools.

 

Linux people must be able to work with Windows without throwing up :-) (and
vice versa ... :-)
