SUMMARY: Lead a team of Unix Administrators in terms of broad technical knowledge and project management. Create a strong support structure to maintain all UNIX environments which include HP, SUN and Intel platforms and other hardware peripherals as required. Identify and implement system and application enhancements to prevent outages, with a goal of 100% uptime. Coordinate 24x7 on call responsibility and off-hour support with UNIX Administrators as well as being available for all staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Represent the UNIX team with all internal customers as needed. Complete all tasks associated with projects assigned to you. Help define system specifications and standards. Assist management team in establishing appropriate level-of-effort timeline estimates for new projects and implementations based on system and application design. Update management of project status accordingly. Work with various technical departments during development and implementation of new services or changing existing architectures. Complete administrative tasks as required including employee performance reviews, job descriptions, and maintaining on call support schedules. Performance & Tuning of existing Enterprise & Departmental Size Sun Solaris Servers. Monitor and administer all UNIX servers and process accordingly including Sun Solaris. Assist various Production, Quality Assurance, and Research and Development teams in establishing various Redhat Linux environments based on UNIX best practices. Improve existing processes within the UNIX environment. Participate in verification and validation of system and application design documents making recommendations based on industry best practices and departmental configuration standards. Interface with 3rd party software vendors for software utilized by the UNIX Administration department ensuring that release levels are current, that maintenance is kept current and that issues are addressed in a timely manner. Document, update, and track methods of procedure and standard operation procedures. Escalate issues to management as needed. Work with the team to resolve problems. Perform required daily tasks. Perform OS upgrades and patch install as required. Provide 24x7 support as scheduled. Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: 

BS in Computer Science or equivalent discipline required. Minimum six (6) years experience in supporting production systems. Minimum four (4) years experience in high-availability clusters and enterprise storage solutions. Minimum two (2) years experience in a leadership role. Demonstrated history of providing 24x7 support. Use skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Ability to independently and collaboratively provide methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Ability to solve complex problems. Sun Solaris 2.6 or higher required. (Solaris 9 preferred). Sun High Availability Cluster required. Sun High End Enterprise Class Servers required. Knowledge of RDBMS required. (Oracle preferred). Veritas Volume Manager required. EMC Symmetrix experience required. Veritas Netbackup a plus. Knowledge of Linux OS (Redhat 3.0 or higher preferred). Knowledge of HP UX OS. Proficient with desktop applications (Visio, MS Word, Excel) a plus. Knowledge of Sun High End Enterprise Class Servers. Knowledge of HP UX Systems. Knowledge of EMC Symmetrix and DMX technology. Knowledge of HP Proliant DL and BL Technology.
