Full time permanent role- Software Engineer- In Wakefield
You will research, design and develop a GIS application thats using Javascript / GoogleMaps as the front end, and PHP / PostgreSQL as the back end. This system is currently in progress so you will need to familiarize yourself with an existing architecture. You will be required to assist in writing up feature roadmaps, requirements, product documentation, debugging and maintenance. This is a fast paced position where setting and meeting deadlines is vitally important. This is also an incredible opportunity in a ground-breaking new market that has generated a lot of buzz from the GIS community. We are interested in filling this position immediately.
Requirements
* Javascript (AJAX)
* PHP 5 (with solid experience utilized OOP principles with PHP)
* PostgreSQL
* Familiarity with the product lifecycle
* Experience drawing up UMLs diagrams, database schemas, product requirement documents
* Excellent communication and teamwork
* Experience with PostGIS, Featureserver, ESRI, and GoogleMaps are a huge plus, but not required in the right candidate

In addition, you should be comfortable with the following environments which are used by our development team:
* Linux
* Subversion
Contract Position- PHP Developer- 60-90 days
You will be responsible for making changes to an existing structure of code across eight different websites, all built using PHP 4 / MySQL 4. All of these websites already have administration panels which allow the business users to modify the content of the database to a certain degree. Each project will require you to draw up technical specifications based on the provided requirements, and develop according to those specifications within a determined deadline. You will often need to work with our marketing team and our design team to determine the most appropriate requirements for a given project. These projects will range from large overhauls to minor tweaks, implementing new functionality as well as updating existing functionality. You will provide regular progress reports directly to our senior web developer. You will need to know your way around a Linux server.

Responsibilities
- Sole developer for the upkeep of eight different websites
- Creating new websites from scratch
- Back-end and front-end development
- Problem analysis and technical documentation (requirements, software design)

Skills required
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in:
- Developing in a LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL 4 and PHP 4)
- E-commerce web development
- Internet security
- Working with non-technical users to draw up technical requirements and system design specs

In addition, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, and an ability to make and adhere to realistic deadlines in all of your projects.. You should also have at least basic familiarity with HTML and CSS. JavaScript experience is a big plus; AJAX experience is an even bigger plus
