I have an HP Laser for b&w printing. I'm specifically looking for
something to do color/photo-quality printing.

The problem I'm trying to solve is this:

We take a *lot* of pictures with the digital camera that we want to print
out and place in photo-albums or give to relatives.

We have been going to Wal*Mart to use that Kodak kiosk thingy.
It costs $.47 per sheet. The problem is, it's an NT based system
running Macromedia sw and inevitably breaks on every other sheet
you print, requiring a reboot, which takes over 10 minutes.
We've many times wasted 1-2 hours for pictures to print from this thing.

Since it's my wife who does most of the printing, this is a *major*
inconvenience for her since she also has my daughter with her.

I want to have a decent photo-quality printer at home, not to save
money necessarilly, but to save time and my wife's sanity (whose pain
thresh-hold and patience level are *far* lower than mine :)

If the Epson for $500 is of far superior quality than the HP for
$200, I'll spend the extra $300. The interesting thing is that
someone reminded me that Epson doesn't technically *make* printers,
they re-package a Canon engine. Ironically, Cannon is not considered
to play nicely with open source, yet the Epson is rated as working
perfectly. At this point though, I am inclined to get the HP, since
it seems to be better for a lot less $$.

Thanks,

It may look like I'm just sitting here doing nothing,
but I'm really actively waiting for all my problems to go away.
