Sorry, I had the protocols backwards :) Upon review of my own
.fetchmailrc file, I am, in fact, using fetchmail to retrieve mail
from the Exchange server over *IMAP* not *POP3*.
It is the POP3 server which is horrendously broken not the IMAP server!
(funny, isn't POP3 a more simple protocol than IMAP? You'd think
they'd get the easy stuff right, and screw up on the more complex?)

Yeah, personal experience trying to get fetchmail to work with an
Exchange server. My memory is just slightly dyslexic and I
mis-remembered which protocol worked and which didn't.
Which is why I mentioned the Fetchmail FAQ. I don't always trust my
memory of details, but I usually trust my memory of where I learn
things!

In all honesty, and in all the time you've known me, have you ever
known me to "make stuff up"? I resent the implication that I would
ever do that. I'm not always right, but I'll never intentionally
spread mis-information regardless of how much I like or dis-like
something or someone.

It may look like I'm just sitting here doing nothing,
but I'm really actively waiting for all my problems to go away.
If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!
