Unless/Until you want to install a patch kit from Alan Cox
or David Jones... I discovered that 'gotcha' the hard way,
because I, too, had deleted all of the unnecessary
architecture-specific stuff. (Although, I'll admit that I
didn't not try to research any possible switches to the
'patch' command that might have permitted me to bypass
that problem).
