When I installed RH9, if I chose to do a custom install, it gave me
the option of installing a minimal package set which IIRC was around
400MB. You'll need to spend about an hour or two tweaking it and
chasing down packages you didn't realize you needed until they were
missing, but if disk space is a huge priority, you have that option.
I'm sure that FC2 will offer something similar, with the added benefit
that it's currently maintained, so you won't have to stick with a
system which is known to be badly in need of a security overhaul.
OTOH, You can by a 20GB 7200RPM hard drive for about $40, and then it
won't be an issue at all...
