In 1900 powered heavier-than-air flight had yet to be realized, and people
crossed the ocean in large ships.
People still cross the ocean in large ships.

We don't know what technology may bring us in the future, just as the average
person of the mid 1800s rarely thought about air travel. Sure there were
hot-air balloons, but.....
It may be that in the future the tie-in between information and our brains
may allow us to have things like secondary electronic storage available at
the request of thought.
